What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding and support to Australians under the age of 65 who live with a permanent and significant disability. The NDIS’ goal is to assist living as independently as possible. As a registered NDIS services provider, Enhanced Lifestyles tailors its service offering to each of its customers on an individual basis, prioritising maximum choice and control.

Who can access the NDIS?

In order to be eligible, people with disabilities must meet the following requirements:

Have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities
Be under 65 years of age when they first access the scheme.
Be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen who holds a Protected Special Category Visa
To find out if you’re eligible to receive funding please visit the NDIS website and complete the NDIS Access Checklist or contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) directly on 1800 800 110.

Where is the NDIS available?

Funding from the NDIS is available throughout South Australia to individuals with a permanent disability.

Who decides if I can access the NDIS?

Eligibility decisions are made by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), the agency responsible for running the NDIS. Some people will go through a simplified eligibility process based on the support they’re already receiving, including those who live in supported accommodation and those who use a community access service (like a day program), specialist disability case management services or respite services.
